Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, says President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda has made life better for people in Abuja and made the territory safer.
In his Eid-el-Fitr message on Friday, Wike expressed confidence that the policies would continue to deliver positive results, while offering prayers for continued guidance for the nation’s leadership.
Commenting on the 2027 general elections, Wike said political activities will start getting stronger across the country, with the FCT likely to be a main place for these events.
He said: “In the coming weeks, election campaigns are likely to start across the country in preparation for Nigeria’s general elections in 2027.
“As the Centre of Government, the Federal Capital Territory will experience a flurry of activities during this period.”
“You can be sure that the FCT Administration will keep providing a good environment for all political events that happen before and are connected to the general elections.”
He asked people to maintain peace and harmony, no matter their political, ethnic, or religious beliefs.
He urged all residents, regardless of political affiliation, gender, or tribe, to take inspiration from the Muslim Ummah and uphold peaceful behavior throughout the year, praying for the FCT and the nation as a whole during this period.
Wike also appreciated President Tinubu’s leadership and the direction of his policies, especially the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“By launching his Renewed Hope Agenda, he has improved the economic and social conditions for people living in the Federal Capital Territory and increased safety in the country’s capital.
“We pray that Allah (SWT) keeps supporting him.” He also made sure people know there will be enough security during the holidays, saying that the right groups have been sent in to keep everyone safe. As we celebrate Eid Al Fitr, let us continue to live together in peace, harmony, and unity. Security agencies are working non-stop to make sure people can celebrate the event safely, calmly, and in an organized way. So, I want all the people living here to carry on with their usual work and daily tasks without feeling scared or worried.”
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment, the minister stated that efforts will continue to prioritize the protection of lives and property while promoting development in the FCT.
He said, “The FCT Administration is still focused on protecting people and their property, and making the FCT a top-tier city.”
