The last international break for 2024 has gone and fans are set to enjoy Premier League football until March.
This means a lot of decisive football will be played from now through the Yuletide.
It all starts this weekend with the ‘Enzo Maresca Derby’ at King Power Stadium.
The big game will be at the Etihad, where Manchester City welcome Tottenham Hotspur.
But, before then, what four other games will see upsets?
1. Leicester City vs Chelsea: Saturday early kick-offs always have a penchant for producing upsets, especially after an international break. Enzo Maresca returns to Leicester for the first time since he left the club. Chelsea are outsiders in the title race and would be eager to claim three points to stay in the conversation. But despite being without key man Abdul Fatawu, the Foxes could pull off a huge shock at home.
2. Arsenal vs Nottingham: Mikel Arteta’s men are not quite the team they were last season. There has been a lot of talk about the difficulty of their fixtures at the start of the season, injuries and red cards. But from now onwards, Arsenal have to begin accumulating the points if they want to be in the title race. However, Forest will not make it easy for them.
3. Ipswich vs Man Utd: This is probably the game all eyes will be on this weekend. Ruben Amorim takes charge of Manchester United for the first time. His arrival has brought a new wave of optimism around Old Trafford. But this game will be played at Portman Road. The last time out, Ipswich beat Tottenham 2-1 in North London. And they would be buoyed by that result, as they plot another big-name scalp.
4. Southampton vs Liverpool: Arne Slot’s next run of games will give clarity to their chances of winning only their second Premier League title. The Dutchman has enjoyed a fine start to his time in England. But the real tricky games are about to come thick and fast. Southampton are already battling relegation as it stands and every point – especially at home – is important.
