Chelsea manager, Liam Rosenior, has claimed that one of his players ended up “marking the wrong player” as they drew 1-1 with Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Blues took a 4th minute lead through Joao Pedro and they appeared to be coasting to three points, until Wesley Fofana was sent off for a second yellow card.
Zian Flemming then headed home James Ward‑Prowse’s late corner to earn the visitors a point.
The result puts a dent on Chelsea’s Champions League ambitions.
“An assignment was missed. An assignment, a marking assignment wasn’t done,” Rosenior told the media.
“[Zian] Flemming, we know, is their best header of the ball. And there was a player who I won’t [name], I’m not here to throw players under the bus, I will always protect my players.
“But I will deal with it in the week. There was a player we assigned that duty who marked the wrong player.”
