Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has tipped Arsenal as the strongest contenders to win the Premier League title ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City.
However, Carragher also warned that the Gunners could become nervous as the title race intensifies in the later months of the season.
Arsenal currently top the Premier League table, three points ahead of second-placed Manchester City and four ahead of third-placed Liverpool after eight matches.
“I feared this happening,” Carragher, a former Liverpool defender, told The Gary Neville Podcast. “It almost feels like once that invincibility is gone – a little bit like with Man City last season – every [rival] team feels like they have got a chance.
“And will Arsenal or Manchester City be too far away from them? I think Arsenal right now looks like the best-equipped team to win the title.
“But Arsenal will get nervous in March and April because they have not won a league for so long. And Liverpool and Manchester City need to make sure they’re not too far out in front where they can’t affect that.
“And that is the thing with Liverpool, now losing these silly points. I think they will lose more. They have got to keep Arsenal within arm’s length of them.”
