A former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, has joined the Social Democratic Party ( SDP) in Nasarawa State.
Maku, a former Deputy Governor in Nasarawa, disclosed this while briefing journalists alongside SDP officials in Wakama, Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.
The former minister said he joined the party to add value and contribute his quota positively to the development of the party in the state and the country at large.
Maku, who outlined his achievements in the area of employment, empowerment and infrastructural development among others while in government, said he would work for the party’s victory in 2027.
He said: ” Today, I called you to let you know that I pitch my tents with the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
” I have chosen SDP to honour the memory of late MKO Abiola and late Senator Godiya Akwashiki, the best Senator Nasarawa State ever produced.
”Senator Godiya Akwashiki has signature in every project in communities of Nasarawa North Senatorial District.
”I am proud of him because late Senator Godiya Akwashiki has performed well.”
Maku also pledged to work with stakeholders and members of the party in 2027.
“This party is on ground and already known by the people at the grassroots.
“I am coming to SDP to work for the progress and success of the party and I will work with stakeholders to ensure the victory of the party in 2027,” he added.
