Ex-Yobe Commissioner Musa Dumburi dies at 70

Alhaji Musa Dumburi, a former Yobe State Commissioner for Agriculture and one-time Commissioner for Environment, is dead.

He died at the age of 70.

Senator Musa Mustapha, representing Yobe East, confirmed Dumburi’s death on Saturday through a statement on his Facebook page.

“The news of the sudden death of the former Commissioner of Agriculture and one-time Commissioner of Environment, Alh. Musa Maina Dumburi, greatly saddens my heart,” the senator said.

Mustapha described Dumburi as “A brilliant agriculturist, hardworking, dependable and highly resourceful technocrat,” emphasizing his lifelong dedication to the development of Yobe State, particularly in agriculture.

“Even at the age of 70, late Alh. Musa Dumburi exuded an unparalleled passion for the progress of Yobe State, and most particularly in the agricultural sector, where he had an accomplished career and held several positions that had direct bearing on farming activities in Yobe State,” he added.

The senator extended condolences to Dumburi’s family, friends, political associates, and the people of Yobe State, while praying for Allah’s mercy upon his soul.

Born on 26 April 1956 in Dumburi town, Yobe State, Dumburi demonstrated leadership and talent from a young age.

He attended Masaba Primary School, Bursari Local Government (1963–1970), then proceeded to the renowned Barewa College, Zaria (1971–1975).

Musa Maina Dumburi began his political career in 2003 when former Governor Bukar Abba Ibrahim appointed him as Special Assistant on Rural Development.
