The management of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, UMYU, Katsina, has expelled 57 students for their involvement in various forms of examination malpractice.

The decision followed recommendations by the University Central Examination Misconduct Committee, UCEMC, and was approved during the institution’s 125th Senate meeting.

UMYU’s Head of Information and Protocol, Hajiya Fatima Sanda, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Katsina.

The statement added that five other students were suspended for two semesters for similar offences, with the affected examination papers cancelled.

Two additional students received official warnings, which will remain on their academic records.

UMYU reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for exam malpractice and warned that further violations would attract strict sanctions.
