Falana accuses Trump of lying about genocide claim in Nigeria

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, on Wednesday accused the United States President, Donald Trump, of lying to the world with his claims on the genocidal killing of Christians in Nigeria.

Trump had in a post on his social media page last Friday alleged that Christians in Nigeria face an “existential threat”  from suspected Islamic fundamentalists, particularly in the Northern part of the country.

He warned that the U.S. would not stand by and watch the mass killing of Christians by terrorists in the country.

The President directed the U.S. lawmakers, Riley Moore and Tom Cole to investigate the matter.

Trump wrote: “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter.”

Falana, who featured in a  Channels Television’s  programme,  Politics Today, challenged the Federal Government to rise up to the task of securing the lives and properties of Nigerians.

He noted Trump’ claim should be a wake up call for the federal government to end the killing of Nigerians by terrorists and other criminal elements across the country.

He wondered why the attacks persisted despite the several billions of naira allocated for security in the national budgets.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter,” he wrote.
