Lere Olayinka, the spokesman for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Monday said the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, should clearly state what it wants from the minister.
Olayinka made the comment as workers of the FCT Administration resumed work despite the NLC’s planned strike.
The NLC Chairman, FCT Chapter, Comrade Stephen Knabayi, had issued a statement directing all the union’s affiliates in the capital city to appear in union attire for a mass protest scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Recall that FCTA workers under the Joint Union Action Committee, JUAC, had embarked on industrial action on January 9 over outstanding demands and owed allowances.
Last week, Wike had warned workers who refused to resume office on Monday, noting that the FCTA had met some of their demands.
However, Olayinka mocked the NLC, saying FCTA workers had refused to heed JUAC and the Congress.
Posting on X, Olayinka wrote: “Today is Monday, February 2, 2026. Workers in the FCTA and FCDA are at work. Dem no dey listen to JUAC and NLC.
“But NLC is still mobilising for protest tomorrow in support of FCTA workers that are at their duty posts as I write.
“NLC wants people to abandon their own duty posts tomorrow to come and protest for FCTA workers who will be at work, doing their jobs.
“Issorite. Las las, NLC will tell Nigerians what it wants from Wike and the FCT.”
