
A local security man, Mr. Chinedu Anamelechi, who last Wednesday, shot dead a woman in Amakama, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, has been found dead in a bush, three days after the youths of the community and the Abia State Police Command began efforts to arrest him.
The lifeless body of Anamelechi, who had fled from home after committing the crime, was found dead inside a bush on Saturday, according to indigenes of the Amakama community.
Although the relevant security agencies have not spoken about the discovery of the suspect’s lifeless body or the cause if his death, the natives of Amakama claimed that he committed suicide to evade arrest and prosecution by youths or the the police.
According to the community members, the murder suspect knew that he had committed an abomination, hence his decision to take his own life.
Anamelechi, who was a known Vigilante personnel in his community, last week, shot dead a woman, Ezinne Ariwodo, shot a youth who came to make peace, stabbed another woman before fleeing to an unknown place.
Abia State Police Command had last Thursday confirmed that it recovered the body of the slain female victim and rescued the injured persons.
