Football star Gary Neville subjected to X-rated chants by England fans after Man Utd legend’s Union Jack rant

England fans took aim at former Manchester United defender and TV pundit Gary Neville with explicit chants during the Three Lions 50 victory over Latvia in Riga, following his controversial remarks about the public display of British flags. The 50-year-old Sky Sports pundit recently sparked backlash after criticising what he described as the use of the Union Flag in a negative fashion by angry, middle-aged white men, accusing them of promoting division across the UK. His comments were made in response to the Operation Raise The Colours campaign, which encouraged citizens to hang British flags on lampposts and streetlights.  Neville said in a social media video: Were all being turned on each other, and the division thats being created is absolutely disgusting.The Union Jack flag used in a negative fashion is not right. Im a proud supporter of England, of Great Britain, and will champion it anywhere in the world as one of the greatest places to live. But we need to check ourselves and stop being pulled right and left. The comments triggered strong criticism from political figures, football fans, and even some of Nevilles own employees, after he reportedly asked for a flag to be taken down at one of his construction sites.  During Englands match in Riga, travelling fans made their feelings clear, directing X-rated chants at Neville throughout the game. They also taunted England manager Thomas Tuchel, who had previously criticised fan enthusiasm after his sides 30 win over Wales last week. Tuchel had said We didnt get any energy back from the stands.
