
Four persons have been confirmed d3ad, while seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries when three trucks rammed into a crowd during a procession at the annual Eggon Festival and Carnival, in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The incident occurred during the festival held at the Eggon Community Secondary School on Sunday, December 28, throwing the usually colourful celebration into mourning. Confirming the accident, the Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Yahaya Sabo, said the crash was caused by reckless driving, adding that investigations were ongoing. Eyewitnesses described the incident as tragic and avoidable, blaming the truck drivers for failing to exercise caution in the crowded festival environment. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, while those injured are currently receiving medical treatment at the General Hospital in Nasarawa Eggon. Two of the victims were identified as Asheazi Musa and Comrade Asele Amos Asele, popularly known as Oyibo Eggon.
