Emmanuel Macron, President of France, has urged both Israel and Hezbollah to halt hostilities in order to prevent further destabilisation in Lebanon.

Macron said he recently held talks with Joseph Aoun, Nawaf Salam, and Nabih Berri, key political leaders in Lebanon, stressing that urgent action is needed to stop the country from sliding deeper into crisis.

The French president called on Hezbollah to end what he described as dangerous escalation while urging Israel to suspend large-scale military operations and widespread bombardments that have displaced hundreds of thousands of civilians.

He also revealed that Lebanese authorities have indicated willingness to engage in direct talks with Israel, noting that all political stakeholders in Lebanon should be represented in such negotiations.

Macron added that France is prepared to help facilitate the process and has offered to host potential peace discussions in Paris aimed at achieving a ceasefire and a lasting resolution to the conflict.
