United States President Donald Trump has warned Hamas against using Israeli captives as shields in Gaza to hinder Israel’s military campaign.
Trump gave the warning in a post on his Truth social media account on Monday.
According to the US leader, he had read a news report suggesting that Hamas would use captives as ‘human shields’ amid the relentless Israeli bombardment of Gaza.
Trump also called the alleged move by Hamas a ‘human atrocity’ and demanded the immediate release of all hostages.
“I have just read a News Report that Hamas has moved the hostages above ground to use them as human shields against Israel’s ground offensive,” Trump wrote.
“I hope the leaders of Hamas know what they’re getting into if they do such a thing.
“This is a human atrocity, the likes of which few people have ever seen before. Don’t let this happen or, ALL “BETS” ARE OFF. RELEASE ALL HOSTAGES NOW!”.
Trump’s warning comes as Israeli forces intensified airstrikes in Gaza City.
