Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has advised Nigerians including political leaders to live a life of accountability, saying, “we are all going to be on the path of a journey of no return”.

He emphasised the importance of developing a positive relationship with God, explaining that all would eventually return to their creator to give an account of their lives.

Adeboye spoke on Monday at the 70th birthday thanksgiving service of former Ogun State governor and senator representing the Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

Speaking at the service held at Abraham’s Tabernacle, Sagamu, Pastor Adeboye said Daniel was an exceptional governor who fulfilled every promise he made.

He said, “I have been living in Ogun State since 1983. I have passed through so many Governors, but Daniel, has been exceptional. Every promise he made he fulfilled. If you are looking for original Omoluabi, you will find in him. People like him are very few. I respect you, OGD. The Redeemed Christian Church of God owe you in high esteem. You started well and you will end well.

“God does not count in years, He counts in days. Anyone who does not fear God is a fool. To begin to be wise, you must fear God. Wisdom is the correct application of knowledge. From the day you are born, you begin a journey back to your exit on earth. Every journey has an end and at the end you will give an account.

“Every religion talks about it, Christianity, Islam and even our forefathers says what ever you do will be waiting for you at the gate, unfortunately how soon our journey will end is not made to us. We are all going to be on the path of a journey of no return. A journey of accountability. It is a compulsory journey. Do you know the way?”

In his remarks, the Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, described Daniel as a leader whose life reflects service, excellence and commitment to national development.

Abiodun who was represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said the former governor brought energy and purpose to the state.

“Attaining the age of 70 is a remarkable milestone, one that calls for reflection on a life marked by impactful service, enterprise, and sustained engagement with society. It is a moment to recognise his immense contributions not only to his state but also to the nation at large” the governor added.

In his ‘thank you message’, Senator Daniel appreciated the clerics for their continuous support over the decades, stressing that their prayers and support sustain him.

He noted that he will continue to serve the people with the rest of his life, urging Nigerians to be hopeful and support President Bola Tinubu.

“The people should be hopeful. We have a good President. He is intelligent. He has a plan. People always say that you cannot have a crown without a cross. So we are wearing the cross now. And from what we are seeing, the cross is turning to a crown.”
