A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bode George, has urged FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to sheathe their swords.
George made the call on Monday during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television monitored by DAILY POST.
The elder statesman described the rift between Wike and Makinde as embarrassing.
“I want to advise them. Enough of these shenanigans. In politics, whatever you want to do within your system, you do it,” he said.
DAILY POST reports that Wike and Makinde, former allies, have recently made headlines over issues concerning the party’s leadership.
According to Makinde, the FCT Minister pledged to hold down PDP for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Wike, during his media parley with selected journalists on Monday in Port Harcourt, refuted the allegation, accusing Makinde of undermining PDP.
Recall that Wike and Makinde were both members of the now-defunct G5, which also included former governors Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.
The group backed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 presidential election, insisting that the southern region must produce the nation’s leader.
However, George claimed he had advised them—all former members of the PDP—against taking unilateral decisions about whom to support in that exercise.
