Political activist and co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls movement, Aisha Yesufu, on Tuesday openly told Nigerian police officers to go and confront terrorists killing Nigerians in different parts of the country instead of proving their force on harmless citizens.

Yesufu was forced to rebuke the police officers who were drafted to the entrance of the National Assembly over the OccupyNASS protest against the controversial decision of the Senate not to approve electronic transmission of election results.

As the protest entered its second day with more prominent Nigerians including former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amechi joining the protesters, Yesufu became the star of the day as she gave her piece of mind to the police officers who were fully decked in combat attire.

Beginning her admonition, the activist said: “Police is doing show of force for citizens, una no dey shame? Suffer no tire una ? Worst thing that’ll happen is you’ll beat or shoot me, even terrorists do more than that.”

Continuing, she reminded the officers that in the last two weeks, terrorists have attacked communities in Kwara State where over 200 innocent citizens have been killed but the police can’t send its combat team to go and confront the terrorists but are quick to deploy them to show force on protesters.

“Children are being killed nationwide, yet security operatives protect people who won’t stand for you. After retirement, you’ll still need the people.

“Nigerian police blocking us should know that their allegiance is to the Nigerian Constitution and the citizens of Nigeria not to particular politicians who are doing wrong.

“Are you not ashamed? Your retired colleagues are begging us to fight for their retirement benefits and gratuities being owed them and you will face the same when you retire.”

Addressing a particular officer who seemed to be the leader of the squad, she said:

“Suleiman Abdulahi, go in front of terrorists and go intimidate them there, stop flexing on harmless peaceful protesters.”

“Children are being k!ll£d nationwide, yet security operatives protect people who won’t stand for you. After retirement, you’ll still need the people.”
