The Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, on Saturday ordered the closure of all boarding schools in the state over insecurity.
The governor gave the directive at a meeting with the security chiefs convened to review security incidents in the North.
Suspected bandits on Friday abducted hundreds of students and teachers at St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State.
Armed men had earlier on Monday abducted at 25 students and killed a teacher in an attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State.

The Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Mohammed Mamman, announced the measure in a statement on Saturday in Damaturu.
The statement read: “A notice signed by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Bukar Aji Bukar, directed immediate closure of all secondary schools pending improvement in the situation.
“Governor Buni called on the people of the state to pray for the leadership, security operatives, peace and improved security in the country.”
