The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Tuesday signed the N515.5 billion 2026 budget into law.
The governor signed the budget after he received it from the Yobe State House of Assembly.

Buni had on November 6, presented the “Budget of Economic Growth and Infrastructural Transformation” to the Assembly for legislative review.

The Assembly, however, slightly adjusted the budget size from N515.6 billion earlier submitted by the governor to N515.5 billion.

In his remark at the signing ceremony at the Government House in Damaturu, Buni noted that the capital expenditure has been raised to N291.9 billion, representing 62 percent of the budget sum, while the recurrent expenditure stood at N223.6 billion or 38 percent.

He expressed optimism that the budget would provide a legal framework for continuous transformation in education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, and employment, among others in the state.

The governor commended the House for its steadfastness and loyalty to the people through timely passage of the bill after a thorough and constructive scrutiny.

“This clearly shows that both the executive and legislative arms of government in the state are working on the same page with a clear vision, understanding and commitment to serve the people better. I thank you for this commitment.

“I wish to once again commend the efforts of Mr. Speaker and the Honourable Members of the state house of assembly for their efforts in the meticulous scrutiny, objective assessment, speedy deliberation and subsequent passage of the 2026 Budget with dispatch.

“I would also like to appreciate your foresight in approving the budget size, making the budget more realistic. Government will continue to take proactive steps to enhance fund mobilisation, revenue generation and remittance to support service delivery,” Buni stated.
