Pastor Adewale Giwa of Awaiting the Second Coming of Christ Ministry, has challenged the church to wake up from its slumber before the devil takes over.
Giwa made the remark while lamenting that a government that lacks the fear of God is dictating to the church when to close its programme.
His remark came after the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State advised religious centres to suspend night worship due to the incessant security challenges in the state.
The police boss in the state anchored his call on the recent abduction of six worshippers at a Celestial church in the Uso community, Owo Local Government Area of the state.
Pastor Giwa, while addressing his members in Akure, said: “Once you are filled with the holy spirit fear disappears; today a government that does not fear God will dictate to the church what time to close programme and the church would foolishly agree to it.
“Where is the Holy Spirit that rested upon Daniel to continue to pray to God, even when King Darius signed a decree prohibiting prayer?
“Where is the Holy Spirit that rested upon Peter and John today in the church?
“The Jewish council, otherwise known as sanhedrin had instructed them not to proclaim the gospel, but they went ahead and did so.
“The church is sleeping and it needs to wake up before the devil finally takes over.”
