Growing up, it wasn't uncommon to find babies in dumpsters - Muslim woman writes on premarital s3x in Northern Nigeria

A Muslim lady, Hauwa Mundi, has said that the conservative image of Northern Nigerians often creates the impression that they are more morally upright than others.   While cultural and religious traditions in Northern Nigeria strongly emphasize purity and virginity before marriage, Hauwa suggested that evidence points to a prevalence of premarital s3x.   According to her, the reason their girls are not having babies out of wedlock is because they cover it up.  When the topic of s3x before marriage comes up amongst northerners, you'd think my people are angels lol, she wrote in a Facebook post on Monday, May 4. "We may be more "decently" dressed than others, but morality goes beyond covering.  "Growing up in the North, it wasn't uncommon to find babies in dumpsters. It looked like the trend had significantly gone down, or so I thought.   "Until a few years ago when the video of those young teenage girls who were asking for contraceptive implants, trended.   "Since parents are refusing to teach their kids about s3x, the girls are learning to take care of themselves. And in fairness, it's better than getting pregnant and throwing away.  "The reason we do not have girls having babies out of wedlock as much as we see in other parts of the country is because we cover it up. Not because the girls are not doing what their counterparts are doing.  We are not better than others, we just love to pretend that we are. We have lied so much to ourselves, we've started believing our own lies. Make ona rest!   The post Growing up, it wasn't uncommon to find babies in dumpsters - Muslim woman writes on premarital s3x in Northern Nigeria appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
