
A gun battle in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State has resulted in the deaths of five suspected Boko Haram terrorists and three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X on Saturday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, the clash occurred at about 2:30 pm along the Ngoshe–Pulka Road, when armed men ambushed CJTF members and hunters who were on a routine patrol in the area.
During the exchange of gunfire, five of the attackers were killed. However, three CJTF members, Yunusa Ali Ananicha, Adamu Zakari, and Daddy Ali, also lost their lives.
The bodies of the fallen CJTF members were taken to Gwoza General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead on arrival. They were later released to their families for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Following the incident, troops of Operation HADIN KAI were placed on alert along the axis. Security patrols were also reinforced to prevent further attacks and maintain calm in the area.
