Unidentified gunmen have kidnapped a community leader identified as the Wakili Fulani in Kara village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

A counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, made this known in a post on X.

Makama disclosed that the incident occurred at about 7:42 a.m. on May 3, triggering a response by troops of Sector 4 under Operation Safe Haven, OPEP, in partnership with local security agencies.

The security expert revealed that upon arrival at the scene, the joint team discovered that the assailants had abducted the victim from his residence and fled with his motorcycle.

According to him, the kidnappers later established contact with the victim’s family using his phone and demanded a ransom of N2 million.

“The troops have launched search and rescue operations to track down the perpetrators and secure the victim’s release.

“Patrols and surveillance have been intensified across the area to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of residents,” he said.
