Unidentified gunmen have reportedly attacked multiple communities in Kaduna State and abducted several residents.

A counter-insurgency analyst, Zagazola Makama, claimed the assailants attacked Agwallan Centre, Janwuriya, and Afogo villages in Kajuru LGA on Thursday evening, whisking away an unspecified number of people who were returning from their farms.

In a publication, Makama said the attackers were armed with sophisticated weapons, noting that a few hours after the attack, another group of gunmen reportedly stormed Kallah and Aokpeshura villages in the same local government, firing sporadically and abducting more residents, including women and children.

It said that in the raid on Kallah village, residents identified as Simon Audi, 29; Beauty Audu, 23; and Holiness Simon, a six-month-old baby, were among the abductees.

Meanwhile, in Kauru LGA, gunmen reportedly moved from house to house, abducting an unconfirmed number of residents from Kuyan Bana village.

Makama reported that the gunmen arrived in the community and began shooting sporadically, causing panic among villagers, before they began abducting residents.

It stressed that troops were later mobilised to the area, cordoning off the surrounding forests and launching a search-and-rescue operation.

As of the time of filing this report, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, is yet to comment on the incident as calls put through to him went unanswered.
