Gunmen on Friday night attacked the Divisional Police Headquarters in Zonkwa, Zango-Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and killed two officers.
They also freed several inmates detained at the police station during the attack.
Eyewitnesses told journalists on Saturday that the incident may not be unconnected with the arrest of suspects involved in the vandalism of a transformer in Ramai, a community in Zango-Kataf LGA.

The spokesman for the state police command, Mansir Hassan, confirmed the killing of two officers to journalists in Kaduna.
He listed the slain police officers as Monday Madaki, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, and Insp. Bin Magaji.
