Bright Osayi-Samuel, who plays as a fullback for the Super Eagles, has explained why he thinks Victor Osimhen, his teammate from Nigeria, is a better all-around striker than Erling Haaland from Manchester City.
He highlighted Osimhen’s hard work and effort both when he is on the ball and when he’s not.
Osayi-Samuel, who played his first game for Nigeria in November 2022, was on the team that won a bronze medal at the recently finished Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
When asked to pick between Osimhen and Haaland, the 28-year-old said his choice might be affected by his country, but he still believes the Galatasaray player’s overall impact makes him the better option.
In an interview with OmaSportsTV, Osayi-Samuel said he thinks the Galatasaray forward is better than the Norwegian striker.
He gave this opinion because of Osimhen’s hard work and how intense he is during training.
“If I’m being honest, it’s Victor. “I might be biased, but I believe many people don’t realize what he does during training,” Osayi-Samuel said.
“I think with Vic, it’s not just about when he has the ball, it’s also about what he does when he doesn’t. His pressing! I have never seen someone press the ball like he does and still get it.”
The Birmingham City defender also talked about how consistently Osimhen applies pressure, calling it a special talent.
“I think it’s a talent because he does it often, not just a couple of times. As a fullback, you could mess up the ball, but he still makes it into a good play because of how he runs and puts pressure on the opponent,” he added.
Osimhen has been playing really well for Galatasaray this season, scoring six goals in his last five league games. This has helped the team stay at the top of the Super Lig and made him one of Europe’s most dangerous forwards..
