Nigeria’s Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has reiterated her commitment to the deadline for the digitalisation of ministries, departments, and agencies across the country.

She made this pledge during a courtesy visit to Nigeria’s data centre, managed by Galaxy Backbone, in Abuja on Wednesday.

Speaking during the visit, Walson-Jack stated that her office would not relent in ensuring that all government offices are digitised through the services of Galaxy Backbone and other relevant government agencies.

She therefore sought the collaboration of Galaxy Backbone to sustain the digital transformation of the Nigerian civil service.

“I’ll start by letting you know that the strategy plan for the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 ends this year.

“They are resuming because this is the final sprint, and we must deliver results.

“December 31st is the target date, and we need to actualise what many of you heard me say in the last world press conference that I held just before the Civil Service Week, where I said that by December 31st, the Federal Civil Service is going paperless.

“I believe it would lead us to our vision to see a Federal Civil Service that is paperless by December 31, 2025”, she stated.

On his part, the Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, Professor Ibrahim Adeyanyu, noted that Walson-Jack’s visit was symbolic of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s shared national commitment to digital inclusion at the core of governance in Nigeria.

He further called for the continued support of the Head of the Civil Service in achieving ongoing digital transformation through the agency’s indigenous innovations.

“It is symbolic of the shared national commitment to digital inclusion in core governance in Nigeria.

“We understand that a fully digital service is no longer an aspiration but essential.

“We seek support from the Head of Civil Service of the Federation to activate and adopt digital infrastructures of Galaxy Backbone. Also, we seek the expansion of local area networks in offices of federal civil service,” he stated.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Adeladan Rafiu Olarinre, commended Walson-Jack for her continued support towards Nigeria’s digital and infrastructural development.
