A farmer has been left severely injured after suspected herders attacked him in Jakana Village, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, was contained in a post shared on X on Friday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

According to Makama, the trouble started when a group of herders allegedly led their cattle into a beans farm belonging to locals and allowed the animals to graze on the crops.

During an attempt by Mohammad Ali Fantami, a 30-year-old farmer from Kadamari Lamboa bush, to chase the cattle away, one of the herders reportedly attacked him with a machete.

“The assailant was said to have severed his left hand and inflicted deep cuts on his neck before escaping.

“The victim was immediately taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), where he is currently receiving treatment,” Makama stated.

Authorities said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the attackers as investigations continue into the incident.
