The Hisbah force in Kebbi State has arrested 11 persons for allegedly engaging in what the command described as “illicit relationships” at an unregistered hotel in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
The Commandant of Kebbi Hisbah Command, Malam Suleiman Muhammed, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday morning, said the arrests were made on Saturday during a routine midnight patrol by operatives of the command.
According to Muhammed, the suspects including eight women and three men were apprehended by his men after they were found engaging in intimate acts at the facility.
“These people were arrested after they were found guilty of committing illicit intimate affairs in the hotel at midnight,” the commandant said.

Muhammed further revealed that none of the arrested persons is an indigene of Kebbi State, as they came into the state illegally from different states across both the northern and southern parts of the country.
He therefore cautioned residents of the state against engaging in illicit relationships, particularly with women who are not their lawful partners, stressing that such behaviour violates the moral and religious standards upheld in the state.
He vowed that the Command will charge the suspects to court after the conclusion of investigations, while reaffirming the Command’s commitment to enforcing moral discipline and maintaining public order in the state.
