The leader of Yemen’s Houthi movement, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, has announced the group’s formal alignment with Iran in the intensifying conflict involving the United States and Israel.
In a televised address on Friday, the Houthi leader accused Washington of supporting Israel’s military operations and warned that any U.S. involvement against Iran would be seen as a direct threat to Yemen and the broader Muslim world.
“Any attack or U.S. aggression supporting the Israeli enemy against Iran is aimed at empowering Israel to dominate the region, and that is something we cannot remain silent about,” he said.
The statement marks a significant escalation from the Houthi movement, which has previously carried out attacks on shipping routes in the Red Sea and launched strikes targeting Israeli-linked interests.
Al-Houthi framed the conflict as a larger struggle over regional control and sovereignty, warning that continued Western and Israeli influence could lead to domination and exploitation of Middle Eastern nations.
“The battle is the battle of the whole nation,” he added, calling for unity and resistance across the region.
