Former federal lawmaker, Babafemi Ojudu, has commended the security situation in Taraba State, describing his recent visit to the state as peaceful and reassuring despite earlier warnings.
Ojudu made the remarks weekend during a visit to Nwonyo Lake in Ibi Local Government Area, where the state government is partnering with La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort to develop an eco-tourism resort.
The former senator said he encountered no security threats while traveling across several towns and villages.
“On security issues in Taraba, I cannot see any threat. I have been moving from town to town, villages to villages, driving on the road with little or no security. The people are friendly and hardworking,” he said.
Ojudu disclosed that prior to his visit, he had been warned about potential dangers, including kidnapping and violence, but noted that such fears did not materialize.
“Before coming to Taraba, I was told to be careful that I could get kidnapped or killed. But I do not see any such threats here. The government is doing well in terms of security .
“I am urging all Nigerians to come to Taraba. It is a beautiful place. Come and eat mangoes, watermelon, and lots of fruits here,” he said.
Reflecting on a previous visit to the state in 1991, he noted that the progress recorded under the current administration is impressive.
“I was here in 1991, and I think the government is getting it right. I am really fascinated by what the government is doing,” he said.
