A notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Ummaru, has threatened to regroup his men and make life difficult for Nigerians and the authorities if his men are further killed despite peace deals being brokered by different communities in the North-West.
Ummaru who made the threat during a peace meeting in Katsina State on Saturday, reportedly said any attempt by government forces to kill 10 bandits would result in 20 more rising in retaliation.
A video of the peace dialogue held between the bandit groups and community leaders in Matazu Local Government Area of the state was shared on social media platforms on Sunday.
In the video, the bandit kingpin is heard warning security operatives against continued offensives against bandits and armed herders, insisting that the dialogue process would only yield results if all parties exercised restraint.
He stated that such peace moves in past had broken down because security operatives refused to keep their own parts of the bargain and would immediately go after bandits after such meetings.
He added that whenever such happens, the security personnel will turn around to blame them instead of telling the people the real truth.
Ummaru also accused security operatives of targeting Fulani herders and marking them for elimination and vowed that if such repeats itself after the peace meetings, they would have no option but to abandon any agreement reached and to continue the fight.
