In a bid to stem the tide of criminal activities by its indigenes, the Umuaka community in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, has placed a N25 million bounty on five of its people over their alleged involvement in various crimes including murder, kidnapping, rape and armed robbery.
In the notification shared on several social media platforms on Wednesday, the community said the five individuals have been declared wanted over their involvement in crimes which have brought a bad name to the community as well as constant invasion by security agencies which always end up in tears and agony for them.
The statement noted that the wanted suspects have been involved in criminal activities for a long time and all efforts to get them to change have been futile, hence the resolve to declare them wanted and place the bounty on their heads.
It added that the suspects have been hiding under the guise of being Biafran agitators fighting for the restoration of the Biafran Republic but have turned the agitation into a criminal venture where they kidnap prominent people in the community for ransom, kill, rob and rape women and girls which is not what the agitation is all about.
The notice reads:
The Umuaka Community In Imo State has officially announced a ₦25 million bounty on five suspected members of unknown gunmen terrorizing the area.
₦5 million has been placed on each of the five suspects to encourage the public to provide credible information that may lead to their arrest.
The community further urge residents and the general public with useful information to come forward and assist security agencies by reaching out through the provided hotlines.
This move is seen as part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and security within the community.
