Nigerian singer, Kingsley Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee, has shared his views on the impact of influencer culture on the music industry.
Speaking in a recent episode of the Afrobeats Intelligenc podcast with Joey Akan, the Limpopo crooner argued that the rise of social media influencers has affected the organic nature of music, streams and charts.
“Everyone can build an audience now and that is negatively affecting the music industry,” he stated.
Kcee noted that while influencer culture has some benefits, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
DAILY POST recalls that rapper, Erigga previously shared similar views when he claimed in an interview last year that the rise of tech gurus and influencers in the Nigerian entertainment industry has significant negative impacts on the music industry.
The rapper claimed that the quality of music started declining after tech gurus replaced traditional A&R experts in sourcing and grooming talents.
