Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and President of Argentina, Javier Milei launched the ‘Isaac Accords’ on Sunday in Jerusalem.
The Isaac Accords aim to strengthen cooperation between Israel and countries in South, Central, and North America on democracy, anti-terrorism, antisemitism, and drug trafficking.
The allies will focus on increasing coordination against terrorist groups, with an emphasis on “Iran’s attempts to expand its terrorist network and presence throughout the Western Hemisphere.”
PM Netanyahu and President Milei witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Preventing Terrorism, a MoU on Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence, and an Amended Aviation Protocol.
Both nations will share skills and knowledge in AI technologies and their infrastructure, while the amendment to the Air Services pact signed in 2017 regulates various issues to facilitate aviation links.
Netanyahu and Milei also announced a direct international flight route between Israel and Argentina by the end of the year. Tel Aviv-Buenos Aires flights would take around 15-16 hours.
Netanyahu’s office said the move will foster economic ties, business activity, international cooperation, and expand investment, trade, and tourism between Israel and Latin America.
Milei, whose visit to Israel is his third trip since assuming office in December 2023, confirmed that Argentina will move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Argentina will become the eighth country to do so, following similar relocation by the United States, Fiji, Guatemala, Honduras, Kosovo, Papua New Guinea, and Paraguay.
