Kaduna: EFCC arrests 15 over illegal trade in radioactive minerals

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have apprehended 15 male suspects over their alleged involvement in the unlawful trade of radioactive solid minerals in Kaduna State.

The development was disclosed on Tuesday by the spokesperson of the anti-graft agency, Dele Oyewale, in an official statement.

According to the statement, the suspects were arrested on Sunday, March 8, 2026, along the Suleja–Maji Road in Niger State by operatives attached to the EFCC Kaduna Zonal Directorate.

Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects were transporting the suspected radioactive solid minerals in three trucks to various destinations across the country for purposes yet to be determined.

The commission stated that the suspects are currently being interrogated at the Kaduna Zonal Directorate as investigations continue.

The EFCC added that the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
