A former lawmaker, who represented Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, Kaduna State, at the House of Representatives, David Umar Gurada, has refuted allegation that he diverted N100 million federal government intervention fund intended for his constituents.

Lawmaker, Gabriel Saleh Zock, had at an event on Thursday in his constituency, alleged that his predecessor, David Umar Gurara, diverted the said N100 million intended for constituents.

While denying the allegations Gurada said, “Let me tell you the truth, he was not in the House, he does not know how it goes, he has no document for it. We that were there, we know, so many things have been shared. If he has the allegation, he should be able to bring proof. You don’t make mere allegations. If he has any proof, he should report me to the authorities because he is a House of Representative member. It is the National Assembly that gave me the money. If there is any wrong doing, it is the same National Assembly that will caution me.”

The fund, Zock alleged, was part of the Federal Government’s effort under President Bola Tinubu’s administration to cushion the economic hardship facing Nigerians.

Zock claimed he became aware of the alleged diversion through official communication from the House of Representatives and testimonies from members of his constituency.

He said, “I have vowed to give back to members of the constituency whatever is meant for them because I know I will stand before my creator on the last day to account for all my deeds. I challenge anyone to go and ask the people of the constituency.”

He reiterated his commitment to transparency and people-oriented representation, assuring constituents that any benefit or intervention meant for them will be delivered without diversion or favoritism.
