The Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo was conspicuously absent on Saturday as Governor Abba Yusuf made his first public appearance after announcing his resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, fueling speculations of a rift between the duo.
The event was the distribution of motorcycles handed out by the governor to social media handlers drawn from across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state at the Kano State Government House.
The deputy governor usually accompanies the governor at such public events in the past.
Speculations of a possible rift were heightened because the deputy governor has been seen aligning himself more with former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, who is the founder of the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
Hours before the governor announced his resignation, Deputy Governor Gwarzo was said to have been at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) to receive Kwankwaso on his return to the state.
