Kano police commissioner denies rift with Gov Yusuf

The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has dismissed speculations of a strained relationship between him and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, following recent calls by Governor Yusuf for his redeployment.

He said both remain in good terms and are working together to maintain peace and security in the state.

Bakori made the clarification during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Bompai on Monday.

Recall that Governor Yusuf had, during his address at the 65th Independence Day anniversary celebration in Kano, publicly urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove the police commissioner over his absence from the event and the withdrawal of police personnel from the parade ground.

Responding to a question on the matter, CP Bakori said there was no conflict between the police and the state government, stressing that both institutions were merely performing their constitutional responsibilities.

“All of us are doing our job, and we are still friends and collaborating to ensure the security of lives and property in the state,” he emphasized.

The commissioner reiterated his commitment to working with the Kano State Government and other security agencies to sustain peace and order across the state.
