The Katsina State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, KTPCACC, says it is investigating 15 councillors and two Community Development Officers, CDOs, over alleged extortion and financial mismanagement amounting to over N46 million.

The Secretary of the Commission, Jamilu Abdulsalam, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Katsina.

He said the alleged fraud was committed during the distribution of subsidised fertiliser under the Community Development Programme, CDP.

“The combined alleged extortion by the CDOs and councillors exceeds N46 million. Some have admitted their roles and even begun making refunds. Others remain under investigation, and the commission is pursuing all lawful means to ensure accountability and recovery of the public funds,” Abdulsalam stated.

He further revealed that the commission was investigating a separate case of alleged misappropriation in the Katsina State Department of Banking and Finance involving more than N136.1 million.

According to him, while N31.8 million was verified as properly spent, N104.3 million remained unaccounted for. He added that over N70 million had so far been recovered, with efforts ongoing to recover the balance.

The commission is also investigating four secondary school principals over alleged mismanagement of N6.6 million, with one of them accused of selling school property.

Abdulsalam assured that all cases were being pursued with seriousness and professionalism, stressing that the KTPCACC remained committed to protecting public resources, promoting accountability, and upholding transparency in the state.

He urged members of the public to continue reporting cases of corruption, financial misconduct, and abuse of office for investigation and necessary action.
