The Kebbi State House of Assembly Committee on Justice and Judiciary has held a public hearing on the State Child Protection Amendment Bill 2025.

The hearing aimed to review and strengthen existing child protection laws while addressing emerging issues concerning the welfare and rights of children in the state.

According to a statement by Murtala Adamu Diri, the session was attended by a wide range of stakeholders, including lawmakers, child advocacy groups, legal experts, the Council of Ulama, officials from the Ministries of Religious Affairs and Women Affairs and Social Development, as well as representatives of civil society organisations, the Hisbah Board, and the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

Participants presented various recommendations to ensure the proposed amendments effectively safeguard the rights and well-being of children in Kebbi State.

The large turnout reflected growing public interest and commitment to strengthening the legal framework that protects children across the state.
