The Kebbi State Police Command has debunked a viral social media report alleging that a retired Assistant Controller of Customs built a private airport in the Argungu forest for smuggling cocaine and other illicit drugs into Nigeria.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, described the report as “false, baseless, and a calculated attempt to tarnish the image of the state and its security agencies.”

Abubakar said the publication was a deliberate act of misinformation aimed at creating panic, emboldening criminals, and undermining ongoing security operations in the state.

“The Kebbi State Police Command categorically refutes this mischievous narrative. It is a total fabrication designed to mislead the public and discredit the sustained efforts of our officers in combating crime,” the statement read.

He urged residents to disregard the rumour and remain vigilant, warning that spreading false information could have serious implications for public peace and safety.

The command also pledged to continue collaborating with credible media professionals to counter fake news and maintain peace in the state.
