The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Wednesday presided over the swearing-in of a new High Court Judge, two Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal, newly appointed Special Advisers, and also inaugurated members of the Persons Living with Disabilities Commission.
The ceremony which took place at the Executive Chamber of TY Danjuma House in Jalingo, drew top government officials, members of the judiciary, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other dignitaries from across the state.
Those sworn in include Justice Mansura Bargami as Judge of the High Court, Khadi Aliyu Yaya Abubakar, and Khadi Yakubu Mohammed as Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal.
In his address, governor Kefas described the occasion as a significant milestone in his administration’s efforts to strengthen the judiciary, enhance governance, and promote inclusivity in Taraba State. He emphasized that a strong and independent judiciary remains the bedrock of democracy.
The governor charged the newly sworn-in judicial officers to uphold justice, fairness, and integrity in the discharge of their duties. He urged them to dispense justice without fear or favour, noting that public trust in the legal system depends largely on their commitment to the rule of law.
Governor Kefas also administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Special Advisers, urging them to leverage their experience and expertise to advance the administration’s development agenda. He stated that their appointments were based on merit and their proven capacity to deliver results that will positively impact the lives of citizens.
Speaking on the inauguration of the Persons Living with Disabilities Commission, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities and inclusive policies for persons living with disabilities in the state.
