Kefas urges stronger state-federal collaboration to drive Taraba’s development

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has stressed the need for robust collaboration between state governments and the Federal Government, warning that states which fail to build such partnerships risk falling behind in development.

Kefas made the remark on Wednesday in Jalingo while hosting the leadership of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), who were in the state to inspect and commission projects executed by the commission.

The governor underscored that cooperation with federal authorities is vital for accelerated growth and progress, noting that meaningful development can only be achieved when state governments align their policies and programmes with federal initiatives.

According to him, synergy between both tiers of government creates opportunities for increased investment, infrastructure expansion, and improved social services.

“Any government that does not partner or collaborate with the Federal Government will be left behind in terms of development,” Kefas stated.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with the Federal Government to attract more projects and enhance the welfare of the people of Taraba State.

Earlier, the Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigeri Ahmadu, revealed that the NEDC has installed street lights in all local government areas of Taraba State and executed multiple water projects across various communities.

Ahmadu said the interventions form part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and living conditions, particularly for underserved and marginalised populations who have received targeted support.

“Our trip to Taraba is to inspect and commission projects. The NEDC has provided streetlights to all the local government areas and executed water projects spread across the state. Underserved and marginalised persons have also been reached with succour,” the minister said.

He also pledged sustained collaboration with the state government, commending Governor Kefas for fostering stronger ties with the Federal Government beyond partisan considerations. According to the minister, such cooperation will further accelerate development efforts, as both parties remain committed to advancing Taraba State’s growth.
