The Kogi State Government has confirmed the abduction of 24 children from an orphanage home in the state, sparking fresh concerns over security in the area.
The incident, which reportedly occurred in the early hours of Sunday, April 26, 2026, saw gunmen invade the facility and whisk away the children to an unknown destination.
Confirming the development, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, described the incident as “unfortunate and disturbing,” assuring residents that security agencies have been fully mobilised to rescue the victims.
While addressing the issue he said “We condemn in strong terms the abduction of innocent children from an orphanage, the government is working closely with security operatives to ensure their safe return,”
