Ahead of the 2027 general polls, Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has made it clear that no district will have a candidate forced on it by his administration.

The governor made this known at the recent flag-off ceremony of the APC electronic registration exercise, which took place at the Glass House in Lokoja.

He emphasised that party stakeholders must be given the freedom to choose candidates for all elective positions.

Governor Ododo explained that fairness remains a core value of the APC, adding that his government is committed to doing what is right by fully complying with the party’s constitution at all times.

He linked the growing confidence in the APC to the decisive reforms and leadership style of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the party’s appeal has continued to rise as a result of noticeable economic progress across the country.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made our party the most attractive in Nigeria today. His policies are yielding results.

“The economy is gradually stabilising, the naira is strengthening, food prices are easing, and agriculture is taking centre stage once again. The beginning was tough, but it was necessary to build a stronger and more resilient nation,” he said.

The governor added that Nigerians would ultimately appreciate the President’s boldness and reform agenda, expressing optimism that citizens trust his leadership and long-term vision for national development.

Governor Ododo also called on party executives at all levels to ensure the effective and widespread implementation of the e-registration exercise throughout the state, describing the initiative as proof of the APC’s commitment to modern, technology-driven party administration.

He instructed the most senior political appointee in each Local Government Area to collaborate closely with council chairmen and relevant party leaders to ensure the exercise succeeds in every council.

“Let us open our doors wide for others to join the progressive family. Everyone who comes into this party is welcome and will be treated as an equal stakeholder,” he assured.

Reiterating his dedication to quality governance, the governor vowed to remain focused on fulfilling the promises made to the people of Kogi State, regardless of the praise his administration continues to attract.

He noted that the encouraging responses from residents only serve as added motivation, stressing that his government will not “take its foot off the pedal” in its efforts to build a safer, more inclusive, and economically vibrant Kogi State.
