
Director of the Kwara state Fire Service, Prince Falade Olumuyiwa, has issued safety advisory on fire disasters to residents of the state during the festive period.
The director, among others, advised the public to avoid careless use of electrical appliances, ensure gas cylinders and cooking equipment are properly handled.
“Do not overload power sockets and always switch off power devices when not in use.
“Fireworks, open flames, and bush burning should be handled with utmost caution or avoided entirely,” he further implored.
Prince Falade, advised the public to call the nearest state fire station in the event of any fire outbreak or emergency for immediate response.
The director, in a statement by the spokesman of the fire service, Hassan Adekunle in Ilorin on Wednesday, urged all residents to work together to ensure a safe free-fire and joyous Christmas festivities across the state.
The statement read in part; “On behalf of the Authority and the entire Staff of the Kwara State Fire Service, we warmly extend our heartfelt Christmas greetings to all officers and personnel of the service.
“We sincerely appreciate your dedication, bravery, and unwavering commitment to duty throughout the year.
“Your sacrifices and professionalism in safeguarding lives and property across the state are deeply valued.
“As we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray that this season brings you peace, renewed strength, good health, and joy with your families.
“May the New Year usher in greater accomplishments, improved welfare, and continued success in our collective service to humanity,” the statement added.
