The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has obtained the conviction of AAC Consulting Limited over the unlawful conversion of N30.56 million belonging to contract staff of Chevron Nigeria Limited.
The judgment was delivered on Friday, January 23, 2026, by Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, the anti-graft agency said in a statement.
According to the EFCC, the case stemmed from offences committed in 2013, involving the diversion of funds meant for Chevron’s contract employees.
AAC Consulting Limited was arraigned on January 12, 2026, by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Commission on an amended one-count charge of stealing, contrary to Section 285(1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The charge accused the company of dishonestly converting N30,564,635.81 belonging to contract staff of Chevron Nigeria Limited for its own use within the Ikeja Judicial Division.
The Commission explained that trial proceedings initially began on June 5, 2023, when the company and its Managing Director, Anthony Adeoye, were docked on a 50-count charge bordering on stealing and issuance of dud cheques.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty at the time, leading to a full trial.
During the trial, the prosecution, led by I.O. Daramola, presented two witnesses and tendered several documents, which were admitted by the court as exhibits.
However, the EFCC disclosed that in December 2023, the defendants refunded the entire sum to the petitioner. Following the repayment, they changed their plea from not guilty to guilty, prompting the Commission to amend the charge to a single count of stealing against the company.
At the resumed hearing on Friday, Justice Oshodi found AAC Consulting Limited guilty as charged and convicted the firm accordingly.
The court subsequently imposed a fine of N5 million, to be paid within 14 days, with a warning that failure to comply would result in the winding up of the company.
