The Lagos State Government has issued a directive mandating all operators in the hospitality industry, including hotels, event centres, and nightclubs, to obtain approvals from both the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to ensure efficient parking and traffic control. This directive was announced in a joint statement signed by Adebisi Adelabu, General Manager of LASPA, and Bakare-Oki Olalekan, General Manager of LASTMA, following a meeting held at the Parking Authority office on Thursday, August 7. According to the statement, the directive is aimed at addressing the persistent issues of indiscriminate parking and the traffic congestion frequently caused by hospitality establishments across the state. Owners of such businesses have been urged to comply with the states parking and traffic regulations by registering and securing the necessary approvals from both LASPA and LASTMA. Failure to comply, the statement warned, will result in prosecution under the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Laws of 2018. The two agencies, operating under the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, emphasised their collaboration in working towards the states broader agenda of reducing traffic congestion and promoting a safer, more orderly road environment. While LASPA is responsible for regulating and managing parking within the state, LASTMA oversees traffic control and enforcement. The statement clarified that though the agencies perform distinct roles, their joint efforts are integral to the implementation of the governments transportation and traffic management strategy. The post
