‘Lagos govt demolished my shop because I’m Igbo,’ Man cries out on video

A heart-wrenching video currently circulating online has shown a young man in tears after his barbing shop was demolished by officials of the Lagos State government.

In the video, the young man who was seen inside a tricycle was heard lamenting that his shop was demolished with the excuse that it was obstructing the construction of the road and a gutter.

He wondered why only his shop was affected, insinuating that it is because he is an Igbo man.

“Why is it that it only my shop that they demolished? There are other shops around this place but it was only my shop they saw to demolish. Is it because I’m an Igbo man?” The young man cried out.

“Didn’t they see other shops around? Why did they break my own shop? Is it because I’m an Igbo boy? Because I am from the Igbo tribe, that’s why they demolished my shop.

“There are so many shops on this street but it was only my own that they saw to break. In this whole street, they did not see other shops but only my own all in the guise that they want to repair the road, that they want to do gutter.

“Was my shop the only one that is standing in their way? Nigerians please help me ask them. Was my shop the only shop that obstructed the construction work?

“All my money that I invested in this shop has gone down the drain. Where do I start from now? Where do I get the money to start all over again?

“What is my offence? Is it a crime to be Igbo and do business in Lagos? Even the shops beside my own were not demolished, it was only my own they saw. Which kind of life is this? All my suffering, all my sweat, just gone like that,” he lamented.
